Typically half human/equine, although some other 'half species' are also known as centaurs.
Human/equine (true) centaurs all have a main of hair running from the crown of their heads all the way along the length of their backs and ending with the tail. Their ears are horse-like and are located towards the tops of their heads.
They are primarily hunter-gatherers and are a tribal race : they frequently paint their hides with the colours and patterns representative of their respective tribes. Unless their homelands or hunting grounds are threatened, centaurs are generally peaceful towards other species, but often war amongst their own kind.
Centaurs are found in regions where there are large open spaces and in more open deciduous woodlands. They're not too keen on heat and so are rarely found in jungle or desert areas, nor are they likely to be found in the highest mountain ranges.
