Species Description:
These are the found in the skies beyond towns and villages of regions with a warm climate. They are possibly reptilian, with 2 legs and leathery wings and large scales rather like plate armour covering their bodies. Their tails allow them to steer whilst flying. They are green in colour and quite small: about the size of a raven.
Scratin fly alone, but once they have found a likely target they will circle in the air high above them, calling out and attracting more of their kind until a flock builds up. Then they will swoop down and attack, biting and clawing as they mob the victim. The size of the flock will depend on the size of the target as the scratin will attack once they think their numbers are sufficient to overpower them.
Scratin are not very tough and a well placed blow will kill one. The only difficulty is that, thanks to the wild magic that spawned them, these creatures have acid rather than blood and if one is killed then it will explode in a cloud of acid!
