Description:
Only slightly smaller than gorrtas, kotharii are massive felines that appear as a cross between lions and tigers with a reddish to yellow black-striped pelt. They have an extra set of underdeveloped forelegs which are used only for fighting as they are too small to function as proper legs.
Extremely rare, these great cats are only found in the most remote mountain regions of Caevalonia. The species' origin is unknown but it is speculated that korthari could be the result of some kind of sorcerer's experimentation, or they mutated though living in areas of high magical concentration eg. the unstable area around the Black Abyss in the Griffin Peaks.
Unlike Gorrta, which can be trained to some extent, korthari are completely wild and can never be tamed. Fortunately they live alone rather than in hunting packs, but they are still highly dangerous and attack anything they perceive as a threat to their territory (or anything that might pass as lunch).
